This blog will be to connect other forms of activism together to better understand how to write for a cause. Many ideas can lead to creating a bigger solution, so here we will discuss and create ideas about... wait for it...wait for it...ACTIVISM!!!! Make sure to upload all available public documents that can help promote activism. Don't forget that here we will show how writing can change the way we look at things around us and how we can use this tool to promote our ideas.
In fact, the video does say many things that I have personally witness, in my own home. When someone is over weight we should try to make them motivated to do exercise ect. although most of the physical trainer, try to motivate their students by calling out their physical flaws. That is basically the reason the percentage of people with eating disorders have increase.
Another problem is that fast food is a lot more cheaper than a salad, and soft drinks are cheaper than water. Since fast food is cheaper, it encourages people to buy a burger over a salad.
You have to understand that no madder how much you talk to, motivate, and/or change the eating habits of an overweight being you will always fail. Because this type of disorder doesn't lie within the body but instead within the mind of the diseased.
I agree with the Anon post above. Obesity is linked to mental health. This disease goes hand in hand with depression and one can trigger the other, or vice-versa.
well my topic is about abortion & i been looking for videos & i was looking at one that i really liked but when i searched again i wasn't able to find it.
I think that this problem has always been there, from the past is something that continues to grow, I believe that we should implement changes in the environment in which children are growing up
You can hope for that change... but you would only be fooling yourself.Because within our messed up society no madder how much you thrive for change the world would always bring you down with it.
I disagree, but i do think we approach it the wrong way. I am a health advocate and reflect it in my life, don't only talk about the problem I am the solution. I've contributed in changing the life's of many of my closest friends and family. Even my girl friend who shore she'd never eat a vegetable is making much more conscious decisions about her health now. I didn't get my friends from changing there habits by shoving my beliefs down there throats, but by being an example of how and what being healthy really means. I think if you at least change yourself the closest people in your influence will adopt those good qualities, and that is how real progress is made.
I'm writing about how music can help people medically. This video shows how music can help people recover more quickly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p80h63ZNoEE
My topic is about the United States health care system and how it should and can be changed by implementing universal health care like in France.Watch "Sicko" a documentary about our health care system and how it compares to other countries. This clip is only the introduction, but hopefully intrest you in watching the entire documentary. You can find it on you tube.
I think this topic is controversial. there are different types of euthanasia you should go to the euthanasia.com website it will tell you there. you should also look up a doctor I forgot his name but he was arrested and put in jail by preforming euthanasia on live TV. Have you ever questioned why it is not legal in Texas but abortion is? you picked a good topic, I hoped this helped a little.
There has been some controversy with this already. Not too long ago Dr. Kevorkian, or Dr. Death, assisted with his patient's suicide by painlessly putting them to sleep while conducting his own research.
well my topic is on obesity and i feel that the government try's to promote that they are helping us get in shape but i see them doing nothing. for example fast foods are a lot cheaper than healthy foods how come they have not do anything about it? at least lower the price of healthy foods. so i was wondering if i was the only one that sees it this way or not
I agree with you! our topic is the same. I wish they could do something about the prices as well, having a family line of diabetes is scary and sometimes buying healthy foods isn't so important when you have a limit when your buying your groceries, the unhealthy foods are least expensive that's why people choose that way. but I do agree and your not the only one who sees it that way.
I agree with you guys! and we have the same topic. I think we should get together to talk and share more information about obesity and healthy problems.
My topic is about why healthy foods are expensive vs unhealthy foods aren't expensive. I believe that the government is always stating that we should lose the weight and that here in McAllen we are the fattest city in the US well why cant they help us out make the foods less expensive knowing that here in south Texas we don't have that much money to spend on healthy foods that cost so much.
For my presentation I would like to write a poem on the many insecurities women and men may have and also show a back ground powerpoint that can help understand the poem better.
My father is a personal trainer so growing up fitness and nutrition was always important in my family. After watching this video I can easily confirm my topic of choice. It sickens me seeing a child overweight. It is NOT the child's fault. Overweight parents that shove their eating poor eating habits (literally) down their children's throats disgusts me. It is WRONG for a parent to trap their children into their poor eating habits. It is NOT fair for a child to be outcasted and shamed because their careless parents succumb them to poor eating habits. It is NOT FAIR for a child to grow up with health problems because of their parents. Someone can argue some overweight people can have food addictions however my counterpoint is as simple as day; I smoke cigarettes, I have for two years. I am MORE than aware of the health issues caused by cigarettes yet I still choose to smoke them. If I ACTUALLY wanted to quit I would, yes it'd be difficult but if I wanted to quit I would. Reflect my counterpoint to the topic of overweight/obese individuals. If they wanted to ACTUALLY lose weight, break away from bad habits, and live a healthy life they would. It disgusts me seeing parents trap their children with their bad habits. If America wants "change", it SOLEY up to them.
My topic is how social media is increasing depression in the United States. Is knowing too much about someone or something effecting our moods? Is posting and commenting on strangers lives helping us or destroying us?
I feel when you open yourself or story to the media, expect the worst. Does is make it right? no. However' freedom of speech allows for harsh criticism or opinions. The question is where does the line come between bullying and opinions. Also if the person is that emotionally unstable why open yourself up like that to the world? if you don't want to hear peoples opinions or for people to gossip, don't let everyone know your business.
Christina! I can definitely relate to this topic. I strongly believe that negative interaction between people of any age can disintegrate a fragile mind.
My topic is on the link between rising child obesity rates and the increase in easily accessible technology, but not only in America but also in Australia where I am from. Children these days are spending far too much time in front of the television screen, computer screen or gaming device. Long gone are the days where as soon as kids got home from school they would be outside playing with other kids from the neighbourhood. But why has this stopped? How important is the parents role in this? Do they take all the responsibility? And if technology like this wasn't around would obesity rates actually be lower?
My topic will be based on the effects of modern society, culture and upbringing that stimulate depression and suicide. Where does the responsibility of suicide lie?
My topic is obesity and accepting it as the normal. Not too long ago, part of a traveling freak show included an obese person as part of the act. As time progresses, we do acknowledge the obese, but does it really shock us when we see overweight individuals? What events caused us to become almost desensitized to seeing overweight people daily?
My topic is about getting a head start in lowering obesity for the future. Now a days you see more obese children than there was maybe twenty years ago. How can we change this? At what age should parents start motivating their children to eat healthy and be active to lower their chances of obesity in the future?
Question: Can just a change of diet actually make you healthy? I believe in order to be healthy it is much more than a diet change its a whole lifestyle change. If parents with obese children change how they
The diet is without a doubt the most important factor although to lose weight, exercise is a necessity. Individuals think just cutting back on fatty foods will instantly drop the weight off but the food eaten still needs to be burned off in some way. With society how it is nowadays, it is a huge battle to stay away from the fast foods, which is why I feel the generations 1,2 and 3 back have to take some responsibility for the obesity epidemic as they introduced the fast food outlets. Also the Parents have to take the majority of the responsibility as they are forcing the fatty foods into the children and they aren't educating them on what they should and shouldn't eat.
I agree that any person who wants to be healthy need to change their lifestyle but that is not easy because they already have a routine lifestyle not easy to break. This person needs compromise, exercise enough(not just 10 min walk), drink water and to check that their caloric intake is equal to or less that what they are eating of course if they wanted to lose weight.
HGH is naturally occurring in the human body, so everyone will test positive, except people suffering from endocrine disorders (such as hypothyroidism). I think you should specify the reason these tests should be implemented; such as the HGH/steroid abuse in high school sports.
What are some of the effects that children go through after being abused for so long as a child, and why? Depending on the children also, what would be the most effective way to help them cope with that reality? why?
Want to write about "vegetarians", I have few options and wanted to know which may be the best. Something specific not broad subject and that i will be able to find supporting evidence: Do vegetarians get a good nutrition? What are the health benefits of a vegetarian diet? Vegetarianism increase longevity? Was the human being born to be vegetarian? Vegetarians spend less money than meat eaters?
I think it is a good question, and a good topic, since you are opposing science beliefs versus religion. I Think based on knowledge that until now the though of the catholic church is that it is a demonic possession.
Topic: Health (Obesity) Question: Why have modern times changed dramatically that more children are diagnosed at an early age with obesity? Will this continue for many more centuries or is there a limit?
There are many potential risks with nanotechnology. Is there any major effect on the human body? There is possibility to use it in the medical field, but is it really worth it? What can nanotechnology do for us?
Why it is important to raise awareness about mental illness? I am not sure if I should focus in just one mental illnes or just explain why mental health is important.
